Where are you going at years end ?

Post by softball95dad » May 10th, 2010, 4:09 pm

In an effort to help spurn NM softball discussion from afar, let me throw out a topic from other state forums.

Let us know where your team may be going at the end of the year so we can keep tabs and show how well NM is represented. Are you going to try and....

1. Qualify for ASA Nationals ?

2. Qualify for USSSA World Series?

3. Westerns ASA Nationals?

3. TCS ?

NM Sol 95 is planning to compete at the 14A Western Nationals, or perhaps make a run in Moline; they are competing at the Colorado Fireworks in preparation for the competition. Qualifying at the NM ASA State tournament in Carlsbad. :D

The NM SOL organization (12U-16U) competes in CO at the Fireworks and at the Sparkler.

Saw your squad in Phoenix during the rainout this spring, but haven't seen you back. Can we expect to see your team, or another NM team come out to AZ to try and qualify for Nationals in Moline?

We were really pumped for the Spring Classic, oh well...we really enjoy competing in AZ, however, we will not have the opportunity to return to AZ till the Fall. As a 2nd yr. team, we are considering our options; we are gearing-up for the CO Fireworks in July. I would imagine that many of the nation's top 14U teams will be at this year's Fireworks. However, we will know by mid. June where we are going. We just got our full team back together (after HS) and we are competing in a local USSSA tourney this weekend, lets see how they do.

I don't know of any other NM teams' plans. The best opportunity to gauge the level of NM 14U ASA teams, will be 1st weekend of June at Missy Molina in Las Cruces, NM. Then, our state ASA tourney is 3rd weekend of June in Carlsbad, NM. There are many talented players in NM, I hope that they will find a way to a national ASA event somewhere/somehow.

The Las Cruces Rebels are headed to Kileen, TX for the ASA Fast Pitch Girls' B 14-Under Southern Nationals this year.

Next year plan on Colorado, Vegas and Class A nationals. Then Lord willing Houston in the Fall of 2011.

Always interested to see what our next door neighbor state is doing. Thanks for the update.

That's Great!, they will represent NM very well. The LC Rebels are well coached, scrappy, and experienced. They have been competing together for a while, and they continue to grow at each level. They sure gave SOL'95 a hard time at Missy, they compete to make each other better.

14A State is next weekend in Carlsbad; so far there are 4 teams competing for their ticket to Moline; (The winner earns the NM slot to Nationals, others must compete at Westerns.)

NM SOL'95, NM Sundancers 14U, NM SOL:Purcella, and SYNERGY 14U. My guess is that they will finish in that order, however, NM Sundancers 14U is going to be loaded with an experienced roster, anything can happen on any given day. It will be worth the trip from Albuquerque to Carlsbad. Best of luck to all!

Nextpitch. Your posts seem to indicate that your team is notcommitted if it wins ASA state to go to Moline. Ithought i'd heard you were going to Westerns. Looking at the weak teams currently entered at NM ASA state, your team, like last year, should win state, but this year will at least have to play for the right to go.

So break it down for the NM audience, where you going?

The NM ASA rules state that the winner of 14A has the opportunity to go to Nationals in Moline, IL; the rules further state that 14A participants who don't win, have the opportunity to compete at a 14A National event of their choosing (Western, Southern, Northern, Eastern).

Like any other ASA "A" team in the West, if given the opportunity, we will go to Moline, IL; otherwise its 14A Westerns in Ft. Collins, CO. Last year, as a 1st yr. team, we competed in the ASA 14A Southern Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX. As a 2nd yr. team, the goal is ASA/USA Nationals.

The teams entered are very well coached and talented, they would represent NM very well at any ASA National event, you've got to play to win.

So nextpitch, curious minds want to know, did your team earn the berth? I don't see any results on 43ft on the NM State tourney. Thanks in advance for your update.
